Approximately 2 years ago, I installed 8 Ring pathway lights. These lights were installed as an additional level of security. These lights are integrated with our Ring security system, they can be configured to send notification to our phones when motion is detected.
Originally our lights were setup to turn on 50% at dusk and then 100% when motion is detected. After receiving our first letter from the board, we modified the lights to only turn on if motion was detected. We explained the changes to the board and received verbal confirmation that our lights were ok.
Fast forward a year, and we received another notice that our lights were a violation of the rules and regulations. At this time, I made more modifications, so the lights only turn on at night, when there is motion, AND only when the motion is on our pathway leading to our front door. In short, these lights NEVER turn on unless someone is walking up to our front door.
A few months later we received a fine of $100.00, and recently another fine of $200.00. We sent another letter to the board explaining that these are not solar lights, nor are they "Malibu" lights. We asked the board to define "Malibu Lights", but they ignored that request.
We've explained why we feel that we need the extra level of security, and they refuse to change their minds.
